Virtual Plant Cell Showcased by COE Plant Energy Biology

ARC Centre for Excellence in Plant Energy Biology showcased a Virtual Plant Cell at the University of Adelaide Open Day.  The Virtual Plant Cell was launched by Plant Energy Biology at the Perth Science Festival on 13th August.  The Virtual Plant Cell will be a great tool to engage students and the public and show them the fascinating and complex workings of a plant cell.  People who viewed the app with the VR headset or even the YouTube video with the cardboard googles were excited by what they could see.  If you would like to see the Virtual Plant Cell, search for Plant Energy Biology on YouTube to find the video.

200 Year 9 students from Urrbrae Agricultural High School visited COE in Plant Energy Biology on Wednesday 3rd August as part of their Global Sustainability Project.  In groups of 50 they were given presentations by two of our DECRA Fellows, Caitlin Byrt and Stefanie Wege, and two postdoctoral Fellows, Sunita Ramesh and Sam Henderson. The presentations outlined ways our research can contribute to improving the sustainability of food production.  Following the presentations the students were taken on a tour of our labs and glasshouses.
